2019 Draft Recap
Every year the SWBL can pride itself on having large draft classes and making a big deal out of this silly extension of our great league. People from all over sign up to be a part of this unique league and 13 of the 17 players who registered for the league as rookies found a home for Season 17.
Many storylines came out of the draft, with 5 teams drafting the 12 players. Here is how the draft broke down in 2019:
1. DBax - Caleb Jonkman
2. DBax - Jay Zimmerman
3. Astros - Cameron Smith
4. Brewers - Derek Cornell
5. Royals - Cory McCarthy
6. Twins - Mike Derstine
7. Astros - Keaton Adams
8. Royals - Leon Cherry
9. Astros - Matt Pay
10. Royals - Jamesell Kee
11. Astros - Ryan Oberlohr
12. Royals - Tyler Cardwell
13. DBax - Brandon Corbett
With the draft complete, the DBax and Royals become the teams with the biggest roster, overtaking the long run that the Brewers held year after year. Also, Derstine gets drafted again. There are many players on this list that will get significant and meaningful playing time, so who is your pick for 2019 Rookie of the Year?
